2008 Programme (March - August)
March - end May '08 "Matchday Exhibtion"
Come and celebrate with us the magic of the matchday experience in Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League games.
On loan from The Scottish Football Museum and the first time ever to be shown in the Highlands is a unique exhibition sponsored by BT Openreach. Over the course of a year researchers visited grounds and captured on camera the atmosphere of match day - from the supporters and mascots to the backroom staff, players and officials. This is an exhibition for all the family and if you are mad about football this is definitely the exhibition for you.
June, July & August '08 "The Magic of Automata"
This is an interactive exhibition for all ages. You are invited to meet a cast of characters that have entertained us for a century or more with their mechanical routines. Come and join us to meet Nancy the larger than life seamstress with over 100,000 online admirers and Boris the vodka drinking bear who saved the World from nuclear war!
There are also displays of inspiring contemporary automata & kinetic art.
This is the first time that the personal collection of Michael & Maria Start from Findhorn has been on display.
This exhibition is very suitable for school and community group visits and workshops can be arranged by appointment.
Family History
At Nairn Museum we have a room dedicated to family history research. There are computerised Old Parish Register records for all the Nairn Parishes & computerised census returns covering the period 1841-1901.
We have a broad range of local history information available for inspection together with access to over 5000 digitised photographs covering all aspects of life in Nairnshire.
We are a registered charity and we therefore ask for a small charge to cover time and materials when conducting research. The charge is £10 per hour or part thereof for family history research, photcopies and printouts 25p per copy and copies of photographs £3.50. It is possible to purchase a disk of up to a maximum of 10 photographs for £5.
